DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehab due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while intoxicated in the future.
