DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
