DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
