DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
