DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high later on. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
