DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehab as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to treatment either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
