Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug treatment program on account of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for instance if someone is convicted of a DUI or DWI, or for any other type of drug related crime that has led the judge to think the individual has any kind of substance abuse issue. Not every person has the option of taking part in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the judge it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they're able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences can be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual succeeds in rehab and finishes the alcohol and drug rehabilitation program which was ordered for them. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehab in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive powerful treatment.
